About Me
Hi there!
I am Willow
My name is Willow Mercando and I’ve always wanted to be an artist. Photography first captured my attention growing up, and I began doing fun photoshoots of and with my neighbors around age 7 with a Polaroid and disposable cameras. Right at the cusp of adulthood I decided to take learning the technical skills and craft of photographic art seriously and jump from point-and-click to having much more creative control of my images to back up my artistic eye for it. Since 2015, photography has been my full time career pursuit. My career started to pick up steam with an award winning multimedia street portrait project, as well as photojournalism for a daily publication. As a result, having my photography published by the Associated Press on several occasions was a surreal moment and one of the proudest moments.
I love capturing moments. Photography, for me, is the art of transforming fleeting experiences into lasting visual stories. With a strong focus on composition, light, and emotion, I strive to create images that not only document but also evoke. My work spans portraiture, action sports, performance art, events, and more, where I aim to balance technical precision with artistic vision. Each project is an opportunity to connect with, people, places, and stories — translating them into photographs that feel both timeless and impactful.
